"It’s an area I know well and I am pleased to join in the walk to raise awareness of the campaign and to raise funds for the path to be given some much needed care.”
Chairman of South Devon AONB Partnership Committee Richard Foss said “We’re delighted that Jonathan is able to participate in this leg of the walk which covers some of the most dramatic scenery through the area, lending his support to this fantastic campaign. As a farmer on the coast I know how well used the path is and I’m fully aware of the need to fund improvement projects and upgrades to the path.”
The Great South West Walk is being organised by the South West Coast Path Association to celebrate their 40th anniversary, taking place in April and May with supporters undertaking a relay of 56 sponsored walks to cover the whole 630 mile path around Dorset, Devon and Cornwall (as well as the Exmoor coast through Somerset).
Each leg will be guided by local experts, rangers and path wardens, who are all assisting the SWCPA with this event, raising funds needed for significant improvement projects, over and above general maintenance of the path, with the ethos of putting 40 years of love back into the Coast Path.
Registration for the event is now open, with a deadline of March 4 for anyone interested in taking part, with those registering now to receive a special thank you with various discounts and offers from sponsors such as discounts off accommodation and food and drink incentives.
More information about each leg of the walk, discounts, the dates and the corresponding improvement project is available at www.GreatSouthWestWalk.co.uk or contact the SWCPA on 01752 896237. You can also follow the event on Twitter @LoveSWCoastPath.
