A WORKSHOP to help people with concerns about crime and disorder in their neighbourhoods was attended by more than 80 people.

The Neighbourhood Watch-workshop was an open drop-in.

Members of the public were able to talk to police, fire service, Torbay Council's anti-social behaviour department, Citizens' Advice, trading standards, safer communities, crime reduction, Age UK, community voluntary action group, dog wardens and the Suzy Lamplugh Trust talked about personal safety for young women.

Eileen Deacon, of organisers Neighbourhood Watch, said: "It was the first time we have held a workshop like this.

"It was very worthwhile because people want to know these things and sometimes they don't know who to speak to or who to go to for help if they have crime or anti-social behaviour in their neighbourhood.

"The fire service in particular said they were kept busy answering people's questions for the entire time.

"We will hold another workshop at the same time of day, probably next autumn."

The workshop was at Sacred Heart Church Hall, in Cecil Road, Paignton.
