SURF'S up for beginners in the South Hams.

The South Devon Discovery Surf School is laying on lessons for surfers who want to learn how to ride the waves.

The event at Bigbury on Sea on Sunday has been organised through the South Devon Area of Natural Beauty organisation as part of its autumn and winter coast and countryside programme of events, which also includes a variety of walks and other activities.

The surfing event is aimed at anyone over the age of eight years who can swim at least 50 metres, costs £15 for two hours of lessons and has to be booked through 01803 861384.

The South Devon AONB group promotes and protects 130 square miles of countryside.
