Teignmouth Jazz and Blues Festival takes new direction with fusion jazz headliners
TEIGNMOUTH will swing to the sounds of fine music this weekend as the Teignmouth Jazz and Blues Festival takes over many of the town's venues.
The 2012 festival is the 26th of its kind, and with a new committee the festival is continuing to bloom, with more than 25 main performances plus lectures and workshops by artistes, as well an ever-growing fringe with many outstanding gigs.
The festival is covering a wide range of music from traditional through mainstream and into cutting edge, but takes a new direction this year in heading the bill with fusion jazz in the form of Eduardo Niebla, the virtuoso Spanish guitarist who fires his audience with flamenco, jazz, rock and Indian percussion.
International artistes continue with the outstanding bebop saxophonist Greg Abate who returns to Teignmouth after several years' absence.

The fringe this year promises to be bigger than ever with many pubs and cafes featuring superb musicians whether blues, jazz or even rockabilly. Most fringe venues are free.
