ONE person was treated for smoke inhalation and a large area of gorse was set alight after a fire near Teignmouth golf course this afternoon.

Firefighters from Teignmouth were sent to the scene at 3pm after reports of a car on fire on the B3192 road.

The car was well alight when they arrived and the fire had spread to approximately 20 square metres of gorse.

The first crew on the scene requested an additional appliance to help supply water to the incident.

An ambulance was called for the person suffering the effects of smoke inhalation.
