Teigns eager for promotion push
WESTERN Counties rugby should hold no fears for Teignmouth after their meeting with Okehampton in the Devon Junior Cup on Sunday.
The Teigns lost 28-22 – Lewis Beere and Andy Webber the try scorers, Dan Force the goal kicker – to a side in the division they would like to be in.
Colin Aldworth, the Teigns player-manager, felt his side were close to the standard required to go up, which is THE target for next season.
"I was frustrated that we did not win as we were good enough to do it," said Aldworth.
"Okehampton are a good division above us – I think they are fourth or fifth and we are mid-table in ours – so to run them so close tells you something about us.
"Had we had everyone available, which is always an issue when you play twice in a weekend, we might have pulled off a win.
"We were close enough to feel the step up would not be that great and that's an encouragement for next season."
