SCOUTS from all over the South Hams, Teignbridge and Torbay set up camp at tourist attraction Woodlands for a weekend of fun.

Up to 500 youngsters descended on Woodlands Theme Park just outside Dartmouth for two days games, activities and thrill-seeking.

This year they were joined by scouting's chief commissioner of England Tim Kidd. He presented air scout Joe Langmead with his Chief Scout award.

Event organiser Brian Roberts said it was refreshing to see how many girls were now joining in the scout movement — a sentiment echoed by scout Rhiannon Mayfield who said:"The best thing about being a Devon scout is the friendly atmosphere learning new skills and creating new memories."
