Torbay Council £10m budget cuts - fears over students' bus service
TORBAY councillors were today warned that cuts in funding for school buses would have a detrimental effect on children's education.
The comments came as members of Torbay council were discussing ways to save £10million from their budget in the coming year.
Having dealt with adult social care last week, today's spotlight was due to turn on children's services.
Discussing a £70,000 cut to the post-16 school bus subsidy, South Devon College principal Stephen Criddle warned that such a move could be damaging to low-income teenagers at the college, or to people studying vocational courses.
