Torbay Libraries have their eyes on the poetry prize
TORBAY Libraries - with the support of the four Torbay Libraries Friends Groups – have announced the second year of their annual Poetry Prize in search of the best young poetry talent in the Bay.
Last year the competition was strongly supported by schools in Torbay and organisers received over 90 entries. This year, the prize is open to children aged between seven and 16 on 23 June 2012, and £200 worth of prizes will be shared between age groups 7–11 and 12–16.
Entrants can write their poem about anything they like and in any style they choose.
They will be competing for gift card prizes and the Torbay Libraries Poetry Cups with winners being presented at the Torbay Poetry Festival in October, an annual event that attracts some of the best poets from all over the UK.

The Poetry Cups and prizes have been generously donated by the Friends Groups of Torbay Libraries.
Executive Lead for Culture and Arts, Councillor Dave Butt, said: "This is a great opportunity for some of our budding young poets to showcase their work as well as encouraging others to put their creative pen to paper for the first time.
"I wish all those taking part the best of luck and look forward to seeing the creative entries for myself."
Participants can pick up an entry form at any Torbay Library or go to www.torbay.libraries/poetryprize to download an entry form and rules. The closing date is Monday 10 September.
