Torbay club return with a record championship haul
TORBAY-based TYGA Martial Arts returned from the TYGA World Open Championships in Crystal Palace with a club record 30 medals last weekend.
The club, which has branches in Torquay and Paignton, brought back six gold medals from the championships, which are held annually.

Instructors Jon Lees and Becky Lees both won three medals at the event, and were part of the 12-strong group which travelled up from the Bay.
But Sophie Glover, 10, put in a starring performance to win two gold medals and one silver.
Glover's golds came in the girls under black belt sparring section, and the girls junior team category.
Other gold medallists included Jon Lees (senior fighting; black belt), Jason Garside (senior under black belt kata), Richard Kass (cadet under black belt fighting) and Alannah Evans (cadet girls under black belt fighting).
Sensei Becky Lees, who won a silver and two bronze medals, said: "Jon and I are so proud of all our students, they all did fantastically well, and fought the best we have ever seen. This is one of the biggest events in the martial arts calendar, and to win so many medals at a tournament such as this is really impressive."
