Divers were down at the time and while a yacht called Freedom attended to the RIB - others collected the divers as they surfaced and returned them to vessel Awesome Explorer.
The Freedom then suffered a fouled propellor after snagging a lobster pot and had to be towed into Torquay harbour.
The Torbay Council patrol boat Oscar IV also took part in the rescue.
