Two accused of causing grievous bodily harm

TWO Torbay men have appeared in court charged with carrying out an attack in Exeter which left a Dartmouth man with serious head injuries.

Dominic Bates, 20, of Moorings Reach, Brixham, and Christian Barbour, 21, of Innerbrook Road, Torquay, are jointly charged with causing Joshua Ensor grievous bodily harm with intent following the alleged attack in the early hours of Saturday, February 9.

Exeter magistrates also heard the two are jointly charged with robbing the alleged victim of £15. Barbour is further charged with assaulting another man, Joshua Lorraine, on the same date.

The case was sent to Exeter Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on February 26 with a plea and case management hearing to follow on May 24.

Both were released on conditional bail which will include a curfew, a direction that they must not approach named witnesses and they are both prohibited from entering Dartmouth.

The incident took place between 11am on Friday, February 8 and 12.40am on Saturday, February 9 near to The Foyer hostel in Commercial Road, in the Quay area of Exeter.
