Torbay supermarkets in clean-up campaign
STAFF at two Torbay supermarkets will head out to the beach as part of a litter pick campaign.
The staff at Asda in Paignton and Torquay are now calling on residents in the Bay to join them up on Paignton beach to take part in the clear up.
The stores recently asked the community to nominate areas in need of attention as part of the company’s national “Big Litter Pick” week with the aim to make a difference in their local communities by cleaning up green spaces to provide a cleaner, safer environment for local families.
Asda Paignton store manager Rob Robertson said: “We’d like to say a big thanks to everyone who nominated and we hope we can get the same level of support from the community when we begin our Big Litter Pick.

“We think it’s important to look after the area in which we live and work and make it an attractive place to be a part of. Many hands make light work and with the support of customers and the wider community we make a real difference.”
The Big Litter Pick at Paignton beach will take place between 2-3pm on Sunday 16 September and members of the community wishing to take part should contact the stores.
All the necessary tools for the ‘litter-lashing’ will be provided by the Asda stores, including high-visibility vests, gloves, bin liners and litter pickers.
