"The latest proposal has been favourably received but there is more work to do.

"We are also helping some of the tenants of the Pavilion find alternative new units, though we are not responsible for the tenants as such. One has taken the former Agatha Christie shop in Cary Parade."

The new accommodation created would be a combination of hotel, apartments, shops, with existing parking underneath and new marina facilities. The new hotel is likely be around the same height as the buildings on the other side of Vaughan Parade.

Harbour Hotels is currently working on Salcombe Harbour Hotel, The Marine, which is being redeveloped as hotel and apartments.

Galliford Try, the Kingskerswell bypass builders, have the contract for the multi-million pound development which includes installing a luxury new Harbour Spa, with an indoor swimming pool and gymnasium, together with new wedding and function room facilities.
