Torquay beach warning amid rockfall fears
TORBAY Council have urged people to stay clear of the closed section of Torquay's Oddicombe Beach amid fears of an imminent rockfall.
A council spokesman said: “Following recent rockfalls in other coastal areas the council has appointed an engineering geologist to carry out a survey of several locations around Torbay’s coastline.

“The location giving him most concern is the high cliffs behind the closed section of Oddicombe Beach Torquay and it is his opinion that a major rock fall is imminent in this area.
“As a result we would once again strongly urge members of the public to adhere to the “Beach Closed” warning signs that are in place for their safety.”

“In the summer, whole families spend the day with their blankets spread out and their children climbing all over the rocks. Even during the winter months it's very rare not to see someone walking at the bottom of this cliff during the daylight hours. It's not a matter if someone gets killed or seriously injured, it's a matter of when.”
