THREE cars were severely damaged by fires in Torquay early on Tuesday, one of them for the second time in successive nights.

Firefighters were called to Stitchill Road in Babbacombe for the second night in a row at 1am when the 999 caller explained that the car which had been burned out the night before had been set on fire again.

Torquay firefighters were then called to Warberry Road West half an hour later after a number of calls about a car on fire.

This car was also well alight when they arrived and a second fire crew was sent to the scene as the car was very close to a house.

Two private cars on the private driveway were severely damaged by the fire.

“What do you expect? Torquay is now an awful place to live...
There are so many rough areas and in them a burgeoning peasant under class that is solely dependant on state handouts.”

“insurance companies are good when it comes to taking your money but when it comes to making a claim after all those years of payment you sometimes think the money you spend on insurance could of been paid out for the cost of any eventual repair. ALso consider paying insurance for a vehicle that eventually is gonna end up being scrapped. THE whole system is a scam”

“There have been at least three cars on Ash Hill Road set alight and the Garage on Thurlow Road was set on fire twice, the first time when the fire brigade were putting out a fire on a nearby fence. The Language School was also set alight. The map needs updating, it is missing quiet a few incidents.”

“However your conspiracy theory falls apart when you take into consideration that cars, garages, a language centre, a fence .... the list goes on .... have all been set fire to in the centre of Torquay in the last few months.”

“I wonder if any of these car fires are linked to one another. I mean, what are the odds of a person having two car fires? Then the odds are greatly increased when you consider that it's the same car. And then the odds are so vast when you consider that not only is it the same owner and the same car, but also in consecutive nights. When you have odds like that, it can only mean one thing - yes they are linked. How? - maybe not put out the night before properly and it reignited. If the car's owner's purpose was to claim insurance - they may have over done it and also increased their insurance at the same time.”
