Torquay driver's lucky escape as car bursts into flames

DRIVER Oli Pfaff had a lucky escape after his prized car burst into flames when he was behind the wheel.

The driver, from Thorne Park Road in Chelston, said he made a quick exit when he saw flames coming from the footwell of his Seat Leon.

He said: "Thankfully, I managed to get out fine without any injuries but the car is completely destroyed."

Torquay fire officers were sent to the scene after receiving several calls about a car on fire.

They used two hose reel jets to put out the fire that is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.

A car enthusiast, Oli has spent time working on the car.

But he is remaining philosophical about his ordeal.

He said: "There's no point fretting about it."
