Torquay feature film premieres to a packed house

THERE wasn't a spare seat in the house as Torquay-made feature film They're Coming had its world premiere at the town's Central Cinema last night.

Cast, crew and invited guests joined the audience for the first screening of the action thriller, shot entirely on location in Torbay.

The film was conceived and directed by Torquay film-maker John Tomkins, and was created using a team made up entirely of volunteers.

With a running time just short of an hour, it tells the story of businessman David York, whose life unravels swiftly after the disapperance of his wife.

Nothing is quite as it seems as York sets out to find his missing spouse, and those he thinks he can rely on don't always turn out to have the best of intentions.

The film makes good use of its Torbay locations, which include the Shoreline restaurant, Paignton Library, the Riviera Centre, Dot's Pantry and the Attic club.

Fights and chases sprawl across Rock Walk and the Terrace car park as the film speeds towards its finale.

They're Coming looks and sounds terrific, and makes good use of the talents of its volunteer cast.

Tom Menary comes believably unravelled in the main role, and receives sound support from fellow cast members Mark Vernon Freestone, Lexie Carducci, Kirsty Anne Symonds and more.

It will now be entered into film festivals around the country.
