Totnes play galleon is launched
A NEW Play Galleon at Steamer Quay in Totnes was officially “launched” at the weekend.
The 12-metre replica sixteenth century galleon was designed by Totnes architect Ann Morris and hand-crafted using traditional methods by local boatbuilder, Ashley Butler.
She replaces the much-loved old galleon which after 24 years of active service was showing heavy signs of wear.
Richard Mitchell from Bridgetown Alive! worked with the local community to secure £50,000 of lottery funding and make the project happen.
