VIDEOS: Tour victory for local cycle racing hero Locke
SOUTH Devon's Jon Tiernan-Locke stormed up the Col de Garde in the South of France yesterday to pull off a stunning victory in the Tour Mediterranean cycle race.
Locke, who is a member of the Mid Devon CC and rides for the professional Endura Racing team, launched a solo effort on a weather-shortened closing stage to win the overall title.

It was the first overall title in Locke's career.
Heavy snowfall shut roads on Mont Faron, the planned finish. The stage was then reduced to only 77km, with the finish atop the Col de Garde.

Locke attacked on the final climb, winning by 28 seconds. Cycling News reported that he took off as the climb started, and no one was able to catch him.
