THE ORGANISERS of Totnes Festival, a 10-day celebration of arts and culture, are holding their annual meeting tonight.

Anyone with an interest in the festival and its scores of events is being invited to attend the meeting at Totnes Guildhall at 7pm.

"There was a lot of praise for last year's event, so we seem to be going in the right direction," said festival chairman Judy Westacott.

"However, any comments or offers of help will be welcome.

"We are particularly interested in having views from our younger residents."

This year's festival kicks off on Friday, September 3 and runs until Sunday, September 12.

Miss Westacott said organisers are planning a new Town Day event as the finale to the festival.

"Part of it will involve an open air concert which will appeal to all ages," she said.

"We have a long way to go yet, but we can confirm it will be a great family event on the last day of the festival," added Miss Westacott.

"We have ordered good weather and so picnics will add to the atmosphere."
