TWO Devon musicians were moved by the tragic plight of Malala Yousafzai, the 15-year-old Pakistani schoolgirl shot by Taliban extremists in October for her views on child education and women's rights.

Chris Speyer and Alan Boxer have penned a new song titled I am Malala, a call to fight for human rights for children across the world, and which mirrors the UN petition of the same name.

It will be performed for the first time in public by the 120-strong VoiceWorx choir at the Barnfield Theatre, Exeter, tomorrow evening as part of their energetic and vibrant choral programme and Xmas concert.

Led by music director Alan Boxer, the combined talents of more than 150 people will be on stage at once, providing inspiring entertainment for all the family. Supported by Sue Wilson on piano and with a full band and brass section, this promises to be a musical night to remember. The event will be raising funds for the MS Society. The performance starts at 7.30pm. To book tickets, call the box office on: 01392 270891.
