Tried and tested: £40 luxury facial from Essence Hair and Beauty, Torquay

Essence Hair and

Beauty Salon in Torquay offers a wide range of beauty and skincare treatments from nail

care, waxing, lash and brow treatments, massages and beauty packages. I was on

my way to experience a luxury facial priced at £40 and lasting for an hour. The

facial includes cleansing toning and exfoliation, steam treatment and

extraction, a mask and moisturiser, eyebrow tidy, face neck, shoulder and back

massage finished off with an arm and hand massage.

The first thing

that struck me about the salon was the décor, calm colours and modern chic

combine to give a feeling of luxury and comfort, the warm welcome from the

staff was the start to my relaxation process, and on being introduced to Lisa,

who was to be my therapist for the next hour, her friendly and cheerful manner

put me at ease right away.

The therapy room

continues the warm colour theme and was complimented with candles and relaxing

music. Lisa started with by asking me questions regarding my skin type, any

problems I had and what I wanted to achieve from the facial. Having one of

those annoying combinations of oily and dry areas and a tendency to break out

like a teenager when stressed, it's hard for me to get my skincare regime right

at time, but Lisa seemed un phased and assured me I was not alone.

Now I know some

people like to shut and up and enjoy the relaxation, but I'm a talker, and Lisa

was more than happy to offer advice and troubleshooting tips for some of my

skin issues, however after about 20 minutes of exfoliation, buffing and

inhaling the gorgeous smells I had relaxed into silence and closed my eyes to

enjoy the massages and the music.

After my

treatment my skin felt firm, moisturised and revitalised, some facials can leave

my skin feeling too tight and a little raw, and I am happy to say I did not

have the normal "breakout" the next day either.

Overall I would

recommend the luxury facial and will certainly be returning for more treatments.
