Trotter Tomlin leaves rest trailing in Tavy 13 triumph

DAVE Tomlin followed up his second place at the Taunton Marathon with a hard-fought win in the Tavy 13.

Tomlin, one of six runners from Teignbridge Trotters, won it in 1.14.47. Steve Barker was 49th in 1.32.40 then Allen Taylor 66th in 1.34.59 followed by Sarah Schutte 163rd in 1.50.35. Richard Varley was 201st in 1.57.29 and Stella Imong was 255th out of 289 finishers in 2.11.10.

Michelle Willcox Watts travelled to France to take in the historic sights of the Paris Marathon where she was 595th in category and 16,072 out of 32,980 finishers in a personal best time of 4.01.22.

Roger Hales and Roger Hayes took on the marathon distance at the LDWA Bath Beat. With more than 3,200 feet of ascent they completed the very tough course together in a time of 4.51.30.

On Sunday the two Rogers switched their attention to the Worcester Marathon, where they were joined by three other Trotters.

This is the first running of the event and the start was delayed due to the unexpected popularity of the event.

The team was led home by Hales. Running in his 80th marathon he was 46th in 3.38. Then came Hayes, Travis Wood and Phil Perry who crossed the line together in 76th, 77th and 78th positions with Perry achieving a personal best time of 3.49.11. Sally Ingledew was 167th in 4.44.23.

The inaugural Bridgwater 10k took place at the weekend. The race was mainly on road and attracted 305 finishers. On the fast course Mark Wotton was 56th in 44.26 and Graham Penn ran a personal best 46.22 in finishing 83rd.

Helen Anthony and second claim Trotter Angela Blakesley made the long journey to Scotland for the Lochaber Marathon. Results are not yet available but it is expected that Anthony will be credited with a senior ladies' club record of 3hrs 30 and Blakesley a personal best 4 hrs 30.

THREE Dawlish Coasters travelled to Tavistock to take part in the half-marathon.

Around 300 runners took part in this scenic run, which starts and finishes at the town's athletic track and takes in the country lanes around the town.

Simon Bunday clocked a time of 1.48 with Kevin Thompson next in 1.57 and Maria Trylska 2.28.

Haldon Trail Runner Nathan Matthews ran round the same course in 1.31. 39s.

TORBAY AC'S Irene Hewings won the lady V55 category at the Bampton to Tiverton Road Race.

Hewings (89th) negotiated the road race in 57.41, which was 1.20 faster than her time last year and a new personal best.

Club mates Andrew Parks (63.03) and Bill Valentine (67.12) finished 111th and 127th respectively. Parks' time was more than five minutes better than in 2011.

Torbay AC's Adharanand Finn claimed eighth spot when he ran the Edinburgh Rock and Roll Half-Marathon.

Five days after a run in Holland, Finn's time was 1.19.41

The event had nine rock and roll bands playing to the 3000 competitors on the circular route from Holyrood Park.
