Trust shortlisted for prestigious national award
THE trust was delighted last week to find out that it has been shortlisted for not one but two awards at the prestigious Health Service Journal Awards in November.
Torbay and Southern Devon Health and Care NHS Trust has been shortlisted in the improved partnerships between health and local government category as well as the highly esteemed provider trust of the year.
The criteria for improved partnerships between health and local government was looking for evidence of close and joined up working between health and local government to improve outcomes and experiences for patients.
Our entry in this category was for a significant piece of work that has been taking place in Torbay to improve outcomes for unpaid carers.

When looking at the short listing for the provider trust of the year, judges were looking for evidence of high quality and patient centred care, attention to best practice, patient involvement and excellent engagement between clinicians and managers, all of which we strive to achieve as an organisation.
This is fantastic news for the trust and while we won't find out the result of the awards until November, being shortlisted really is an achievement in its own right.
The short listing for these two awards is even more significant in Torbay and South Devon as last year South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust which ran Torbay Hospital, won acute organisation of the year.
Having two organisations in the local area who have received recognition at this level is something that I am sure patients, service users and staff will feel very proud of.
Of course, we plan to share more information with you about our short listing and whether or not we have been successful in the near future.
