Search for skipper missing after Brixham trawler sinking scaled down
THE search for a fisherman missing after his boat capsized and sank off Berry Head was scaled down yesterday afternoon.
Lifeboat crews from Torbay and Exmouth had been searching for the man from the Sarah Jayne, a 15m (49ft) beam trawler, which capsized off Berry Head On Tuesday morning.
The RNLI said there were no plans to resume the search.
Two officers from the Marine Accident Investigation Branch arrived in Brixham yesterday to begin an investigation into the sinking.

The lifeboats had gone back to sea yesterday morning as the search went on.
Local fundraising efforts for the family of the crews have already begun, with one local skipper donating his entire catch to the fund.
It was understood to have been worth around £4,000.
Tributes and messages of support have been posted on social networking sites throughout the search.
Hopes of finding the man, named locally as Geoff Ingram, skipper of the Sarah Jayne, began to fade when a search operation was called off as darkness fell on Tuesday night.
Torbay Lifeboat's website confirmed that the search had continued until all light was lost. The all-weather lifeboat left the scene at 8.25pm.
A spokesman said: "Our thoughts are with all those associated with this tragedy."

“When I was 10, I was Geoff's crew in Mintoe his cadet sailing dinghy. He was fearless and would put the spinniker up whatever the weather. He loved the sea. He went on to join the Exmouth lifeboat crew and inspired me to join the Exmouth Coastguard Team where we worked together on many rescues.
He was the last of a very special breed and I am very proud to have known him.
My thoughts are with his family and the Exmouth Lifeboat Crew as this will have been the worst shout they ever attended.
