UPDATE: Teignmouth rail line due to open at 6pm
THE main railway line through South Devon was due to open again this evening after having been blocked by a landslip at Teignmouth.
The sea-wall section of the line carries all rail services in and out of the West country.
A spokesman for Network Rail said the main line southbound towards Plymouth was planned to open from 6pm on Friday.
This will allow limited southbound passenger train movements to Plymouth and Cornwall.

Both lines were due to be open by 5am on Saturday.
The spokesman added: "Staff on site have agreed to reopen the Down Main Line on an hourly basis after 1800 GMT to pass a train service through while work to stabilise the site continues.
"The situation will be closely monitored during each movement.
"The spoil train will depart the site at around 1630 GMT today.
“We have shifted around 500 tonnes of spoil today and will now put up barriers to make the site safe. We will shift the remaining spoil over the next few weeks.”
From 5am on Saturday a there will be a 20mph speed restriction on the up line and a 50mph speed restriction on the down line.
