Upgraded by 10th dan black belt
SOME of Torbay's top karate students were put through their paces by one of the world's most respected martial artists.
A 10th Dan black belt, Gary Wasniewski is well-respected for his fighting skills - particularly his astonishing kicking skills, which have been well recognized as among the world's finest.
He is recognised worldwide for his incredible ability and dedication to the martial arts, which have earned him fame and respect all over the world.
And it was Wasniewski who took the gruelling hour long session, which saw all students come away with first class passes.
Nick Coombes and his two sons Aaron and Joe Coombes passed their 2nd Kyu brown belts - putting them well on the way towards earning their coveted black belts.
Jerry Kass passed to become a 3rd Kyu brown belt - the first of the brown belts.
Purple belts were achieved by Jacob Boothroide, Sophie Glover and Alice Giorgi.
And Annie Glover, Richard Kass, Pheobe Holden and Tom Giorgi all achieved blue belts.
Sensei Becky Lees was delighted with her students efforts.
"Gradings aren't guaranteed and students will fail if they don't meet the required standard for the grade they are going for."
"Grandmaster Gary was very impressed by all the students. He could see why the club and it's instructors have recently won so many awards, including a second club of the year award at the 2010 UK black belt hall of fame."
