The mandate was to showcase the beauty of South Devon as well as the huge range of activities available across the region in a unique and original way.
Ben Hicks pitched his 'origami swan' idea to Visit South Devon and beat off other South Devon College students. Ben's idea was then filmed, animated and produced by Original Concept.
The short film tells the story of a young girl who is given an origami swan as a gesture of affection which she then mistakenly leaves behind her in the excitement of an action-packed day with friends. Through animation the swan comes to life and the audience then follows the flight of the intrepid swan as it tours South Devon and interacts with water sports and adrenaline enthusiasts on the search for its owner.
The music is by Totnes-based band Matthew and Me.
The film is now Visit South Devon's official 2013 tourism film.
Stephanie Cherrett, marketing manager for Visit South Devon, said: "We are thrilled with the video. Every aspect of it highlights the beauty and diversity of South Devon. From the adventure sports and scenery to the music and concept — the whole production has been created by those who know and love the region, so we knew we would end up with an amazing video which would exploit the adventurous side of our region."
