SOUTH DEVON woke up to a surprise snowfall this morning as the Met Office issued a yellow warning for snow across the whole of the South West.

Snow and ice is also causing traffic problems and motorists are advised to take care on the roads due to the early snow.

Hazardous conditions are being reported on: the A385 in Berry Pomeroy; the A380 on Telegraph Hill; the A380 on Hellevoetsluis Way (particularly around Gallows Gate Roundabout); and on the A381 between the A385 Ashburton Road junction in Totnes and the turn for Chilley junction near Chilley Combe Wood.

    “These pictures give no indication of how bad it was at 4:30am. Areas of Ellacombe, Babbacombe and Wellswood were compleatly impassable. The Ring road was also closed for a while.”
