VIDEO: Two very different musical events
THE Blue Walnut in Chelston begins its 2012 music programme with two very different events this week.
On Thursday, February 16, the Walnut welcomes two Russian musicians for the first time.
Julia Morozova on violin and Ekaterina (Kate) Kosova on piano will be performing classical pieces favouring Russian composers such as Tchaikovsky, Shnitke and Rachmaninov.
Julia and Kate are both from the Russian city of Tula, situated about 200km south of Moscow.
They went to the same school, and then met again at the Dargomizski college of arts in Tula.
Julia and Kate enjoy having a varied repertoire and like to take the opportunity to perform together whenever their busy lifestyles allow.
Doors open at 7.30pm for 8pm.
On Saturday, February 18, the stage belongs to Patsy Matheson and Becky Mills.
Respected and seasoned musicians, they have joined forces to create a sound drawing on roots in traditional and contemporary folk, acoustic blues, R & B, jazz and rock, with an emphasis on intricate vocal harmonies. Doors open at 7.30pm for this one, too.
