Weary Dawlish hold on for a draw
DAWLISH Ladies saw a 2-0 lead evaporate as they were pegged back to a 2-2 draw at Ottery St Mary in Channel 2B.
Sickness meant Dawlish were a player short from the start – and they played with nine for a while after a lady went off with a blood injury.
Ottery got back to 2-1 just before the break and equalised in the second half.
A positive Dawlish start was rewarded with a short corner received by Helen Nicholson on the top of the D and slipped to Lottie Young, whose strike beat the keeper to give Dawlish a one nil lead.
At the other end Dawlish keeper Sarah Webster kept Ottery out when they broke in attack with some impressive saves.
Before the half time whistle, Dawlish's Jess Green left the Ottery players trailing and found Amy Reed in the D, who made finishing the attack look easy.
Ottery pulled a goal back from a short corner.
Dawlish started the second half down to nine players, due to a blood injury. Ottery took full advantage to pour forward, but were held at bay by Liz Reed, Mandy Lovell and Tasha Bailey.
Disappointingly, it was a soft goal that beat Webster to level the scores.
Dawlish had chances from short corners and shots, but with weary legs it remained a draw, a result that lowered Dawlish from second to fourth in the table.
