Welcome return for £1 car parking initiative
THE Bay's £1 weekend parking offer is set to return in time for the new holiday season.
Over the Easter weekend and the next three weekends in April, motorists will be able to park in council pay and display car parks for just a quid.

It is the return of a promotion offered last April and in December, which the council says was popular and successful.
Parking councillor Chris Lewis said: "Last April, we were very keen to help provide an early season boost for the tourism industry, and in December we wanted to help the business community during the critical trading period in the run up to Christmas.
"We received considerable positive feedback to these previous initiatives, and we are delighted to be able to repeat the offer this April."
He said the promotion means a £1 ticket bought after 6pm on April 2, 9, 16 and 23 will be valid right up to 10am on the following Monday in all pay and display car parks so motorists can drive and park throughout the weekend and use the same parking ticket.
The promotion will not operate over the May Bank Holiday weekend starting Friday, April 30.

“Must come down to Torquay over Easter and get the cheap parking, that has to be a bargain, shame is there are no shops worth looking at and it always rains at Easter. Mr Lewis start to realise no one wants to come there now even if the parking was free.
See on the TV tonight you and your mate Bye, and the high paid managers on the council c****d up the payments of benefits again, what was it £7m overspent....what a sad shambles you represent???”

“whats the point as we all given up going into any of the towns to shop since NCP came to town not worth the risk of 5 minutes late on our parking ticket, plus you cant beat shopping online now and out of town free parking in a stress free shop, no metres no stress cheaper prices plus all the shops boarded up makes me think of how nice torbay was in past times so to depressing”

“That is not fair what about us poor people that buy parking permits, does this mean we get a discount, of course not. Torbay Council you are only doing this for the visitors not the locals.”
