GARY WILDE retained his senior men's recurve title at the Devon and Cornwall Indoor Championships at Plymouth — and set a new Southern Counties record in the process.

The Paignton Archery Club member finished with a perfect dozen, giving him an overall score of 589 out of a possible 600.

This score beat the existing record, which has stood since 1996, by two clear points.

The club brought home a fine haul of winning trophies from the championships.

The senior team of Gary Wilde, Glenn Wilde, Michael Bryan-Harris and Mark Lewis beat their nearest challengers by 77 points, while the junior team of Joe Musty, Amy Wilde and Jimmy Lewis shot an impressive score of 1124 to win.

In the individual U15 competition, Amy Wilde won the longbow trophy in the morning and the recurve in the afternoon.

Jimmy Lewis also won a longbow trophy, Joe Musty won in the recurve and Sam Rooke in the compound.
