Woman knocked unconscious
TWO people were taken to hospital after a disturbance at a bar in Torquay over the weekend.
Police and paramedics were called to Ryan's Bar in Abbey Road late on Saturday night.
A man was found to have head injuries while a woman had been knocked unconscious.
The alarm was raised just before 11pm after a pool cue had been broken during a fight.
An ambulance spokesman said the casualties had been taken to Torbay Hospital in separate emergency vehicles.
A police spokesman said a 40-year-old man from Torquay had since been charged with causing actual bodily harm to the man. He was also charged with common assault against the woman.
He will appear before Bay magistrates on February 25.
TWO women were hurt during a bust-up with a man in Torquay over the weekend.
The pair both received slight head injuries in the disturbance in Forest Road in the early hours of Sunday.
Police and paramedics attended the scene at 12.30am.
A police spokesman confirmed that both women received minor cuts to the head in falls.
The incident happened during an altercation with a man. The spokesman said no one was being sought in connection with the incident. No further action was taken.
TWO men claim they were assaulted on The Strand in Torquay over the weekend.
One of them was taken to Torbay Hospital for treatment to a head injury.
The other was checked over at the scene by an ambulance crew.
Police say the incident happened outside the Boots store just after 4am on Sunday
A spokesman said few details about the incident were available.
The matter was not being pursued further.
