A spokesman for Mansell said it had been closed by the council's highways department and they could not comment further.
A Torbay Council spokesman said the path had been closed for safety reasons due to the work taking place below the path, but they did not know how long it would stay shut for.
She said: "It is dependant on the work being carried out by the contractors and once we are happy the work doesn't pose a risk to anybody anymore it can reopen. We are unsure when this will be."
Harvard Tisdale has already said demolition has been a slow process because of the challenges of a 'busy town centre site next to a main road'.
They are in the process of resolving the party wall issue with a neighbouring owner and until the party wall process was completed they have been limited in the demolition they could carry out.

“Moan, moan, whine, moan, complain, whinge, *****, moan, complain.
Path closed: first world problem, up there with 'out of milk' and 'the lights turned red'. Get a life.”

“Give it another week or two and you won't be able to use the footpath at the other end of Rock Walk too. There are huge brambles hanging over the footpath behind the amusement arcade next to Fleet Walk and it is now beginning to take on the look of a "no go" area with the walls covered with graffiti. Perhaps on safety grounds this end of the path should be closed too?”
