A MOTORIST was arrested after driving the wrong way along the A38 for nearly 20 miles early on Thursday.

Police used a tyre-bursting 'Stinger' mat to stop the 54-year-old driver's vehicle at Lower Dean, near Buckfastleigh, just before 2am.

The car was first spotted being driven on the wrong side of the dual carriageway at Kennford just outside Exeter.

A police spokesman said: "The man will be interviewed in due course."
