About Tiles

Tile is more commonly installed at home or in a work place on every continent, mainly due to its versatility. There are so many different tiles to choose from each with its own characteristic. What Tiles To Choose?

As mentioned above, different tiles have different characteristics and properties. Floor tiles need to be more than just good to look at, and wall tiles, unlike floor tiles do not have to carry weight so therefore can be thinner, and with a different finish.

Floor Tiles

It is important to consider when choosing floor tiles, that they are going to be walked upon. The tiles are going to be exposed. With that in mind, they need to be strong and durable. Grout is used in tiling to fill the gaps between the tiles. Grouting tiles is done in the same way, whether its floor or wall, although many tilers have different techniques. The main concept is that it needs to work in the joints to seal.

Grout Sealer

Once the grout has dried, the tile area is ready to have silicone applied. Once this is done, Grout sealer is used. It is important that this is done before the tiling area is used, to prevent the grout being penetrated from water. This is a tedious process and takes a lot of time, especially when you just want to start using your newly tiled area. But over time you will be glad that you chose to seal your grout. Grout sealer reduces the maintenance needed on your grout, especially in areas at risk of mildew, and as it is invisible once dry (around 24 hours) it does not affect your tiles.
