Barry's thoughtful style is a far cry from the song by which everyone who has ever owned a radio will know him.
He sang vocals on the Seventies hit single The Bump by Kenny.
He jokes: "I only recently decided to 'come out' after keeping it quiet for all these years!
"I'm past caring now and it was a catchy pop song after all."
Barry is planning live dates locally to showcase the songs from the new album.
He said: "It is getting quite a bit of airplay, although I don't suppose it will be troubling the charts any time soon."
Barry moved to Paignton nine years ago and has had a career working with artists including Mike Oldfield and Rod Argent.
Expect live dates in and around South Devon before Christmas.
