One fire crew from Torquay, which was already in attendance, assisted ambulance staff to help a woman out of one of the vehicles, as there was concern she may have suffered back injuries. Police say the woman who was driving one of the cars was 'shaken and had suffered shock' but sustained minor injuries.
The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance.
The other driver was an elderly man.
Fire crews made both vehicles safe and left the incident in the hands of police.
The road was closed while the vehicles were recovered and officers advised buses to take alternative routes.
The road was reopened by 1pm.
