KINGSBRIDGE Show organisers always said the event would go ahead come rain or shine — and bucket down it did.

Despite the mud and occasional sheeting rain, exhibitors and competitors were determined to put on a good show and stage an unforgettable event at the Borough Farm site.

While the livestock and the Britannia Beagles hunting pack did not seem to mind the damp conditions, expensive re-enactment costumes got a soaking.

Show secretary Jackie Broad said they had taken every precaution: "Everyone was advised to come in wellies," she said.

"We put down hardcore across the main exhibition field. The parking is downhill so we could roll vehicles out if we had to. We also put down wood chip in front of the main tents so it did not get too messy."

Despite the weather, entry numbers in the sheep and cattle classes were up for the popular agricultural show and the business stand spaces were snapped up.

The main ring attractions included ace rider Jackie Squibb who put on a freestyle motorcycle display.

One of the most popular attractions were cowboy group The Searchers, an Old West re-enactment society, who set up a small encampment as well as putting on a main ring display and gunfight.
