The new baby was born earlier this month, and she is thriving on a diet provided by her keepers after her mother would not let her suckle.
All five choices of name - Dasa (meaning glorious); Kalena (a type of flower); Ruza (rose); Eliska (truthful) and Otilie (lucky heroine) - are Czech in origin because the baby's mother was born in the Czech Republic.

“giraffes don't do well in zoo environments. ITs pretty sad to not see these kind of animals in africa where they belong. I've always felt these zoos are mostly about making money from tourism. THey won't work in the long run.”
