A DRUG addict went on a shoplifting spree a week after being given one more chance by a crown court judge.

Danielle Parry, 19, admitted shoplifting more than £75 of bedding from Torquay's TK Maxx on February 10.

It was a week after being handed a nine-month suspended sentence for ABH and shop theft.

At the time, Judge Philip Wassall told her: "I have grave reservations about this order but I am prepared to give you a chance."

Parry appeared at Exeter Crown Court on Monday to be sentenced for the latest offence.

Defence solicitor Andrew Cooper told the court Parry had since been given accommodation at the Leonard Stocks Centre in Torquay.

She has been making good progress and is looking to kick her heroin addiction.

Mr Cooper said the turnaround was 'verging on the remarkable'.

Judge Stephen Wildblood sentenced Parry to a two-month jail term suspended for two years.

He also ordered a six-month drug rehabilitation programme and a 12-month supervision order.

He told Parry: "Things have gone badly wrong for you and you have to put them right. You have made efforts to do so.

"This is an olive branch. We want to help you but if you don't comply then you know what will be coming.

"There is a very good life to live within you. It would be a great shame to see that wrecked by drugs.

"Good luck," he said.
