“From Devon and Somerset Fire service
Call received from the owner of a property in Higher Ringmore Road, Shaldon, Teignmouth to say her thatched roof was on fire.
8 pumping appliances and various others were mobilised from the following stations, Teignmouth, Torquay, Dawlish, Newton Abbot, Totnes and Honiton.
On arrival the crews found a small fire within the thatch on the roof of the property. Crews quickly got to work ripping the thatch to get access to the fire, using one short extension ladder, thermal imaging camera, drag forks and 1 hose reel jet.
Crews managed to extinguish the fire using the above equipment. An area of approx 3m by 5m was damaged by fire. The cause of the fire was accidental”
