Monday, November 10, 2008, 09:00

NEWTON Abbot College's drama department has won an award for attaining 100 per cent A to C GCSE grades.

The award is The Good Schools Guide GCSE Award for boys taking drama.

It was given for boys' high achievement and is significant because it goes against the national trend, the college said.

Many of the boys achieved an A grade at GCSE including Louis Miller, Ross Setters, Josh Tratt, Joe Melmore and Alex Ward.

Girls' achievement was equally high with Sophia Pearn and Jassmyne Minear achieving A* grades.

Head of drama, Sharon Godfrey, said: "Our success is due to the energy and commitment of our students and the fact that together, students and teachers comprise a strong, innovative and dedicated team."
