CHILDREN at a Torquay school have been cooking up a sweet-toothed treat for themselves.

Pupils from Torre School in Barton Road worked on all aspects of chocolate making for a school-wide project.

Headteacher Nicky Bridgewater said: "We asked local company Devonly Chocolates to challenge the children to come up with ideas for some new chocolates.

"While developing their ideas the students learnt about the different brands, did some market research, found out if people would buy the initial ideas they came up with, costed and advertised the project and made a presentation."

She added: "It was a fantastic project that involved not just the pupils but the parents and members of the public as well.

"The children really enjoyed it and learned a lot from it."

Cathy Bullock from Devonly Chocolates in Kingskerswell was impressed with the children's efforts.

She said: "Initially we were going to judge the chocolates but it was impossible.

"Every child in the school had made chocolate, they were all very different and all fantastic.

"The pupils had put in an awful lot of effort."
