Beauty finalist Carrie 'over the moon'
Twenty-five-year-old Carrie, a trainee bereavement councillor, has fought off tough competition from 500 other hopefuls from around Great Britain to be named as one of the 50 finalists to take to the stage at the Miss Universe GB final.
The final will be at The International Convention Centre in Birmingham on May 2 in aid of the Joshua Foundation, a children's cancer charity.
The winner of the title will go on to the Miss Universe final this summer, which is owned and run by American tycoon, Donald Trump.
Carrie, a former Miss Hawaiian Tropic candidate, said: "I was so over the moon when I found out. I had to go for an interview in Cardiff to try to get in, rather than a pageant.
"Obviously I'm a bit older than a lot of the girls but I now feel that I am in a better position to take part in something like this."
Carrie and 49 others now have just three months to prepare for the glittering final, secure sponsorship and raise money for charity at the same time.
Last year the Miss Universe GB finalist raised £32,000 for The Joshua Foundation, a charity which helps terminally-ill children have life experiences, day trips, holidays, gifts and memories. The amount raised was enough to take 25 families to Lapland for the day.
Paula Abbandonato, director of Vibe Models which organises the event, said: "The Miss Universe GB competition provides 50 gorgeous girls with a fantastic opportunity to strut their stuff during a glittering catwalk show, have fun and raise money for an extremely good cause."
"The girls involved in the competition will help to make a difference to the lives of children who have cancer by enabling them to have a break from their treatment to enjoy living and this year we hope to raise at least £50,000 for The Joshua Foundation."
This year's current winner is Clair Cooper from London, who has been enjoying a whirlwind year as Miss Universe Great Britain. The winner of Miss Universe GB in 2008 was Lisa Lazarus from Llanelli in South Wales, who has recently had a starring role in hit Bollywood movie, Veer.
The winner of Miss Universe Gb will receive a prize package including an all expenses paid three-week visit to Miss Universe 2010.
Carrie has previous appeared in many 'lads mags' and will be back in FHM this summer.
