South Devon duo kick off at home in FA Cup

SOUTH DEVON hopefuls Dawlish Town and Buckland Athletic could meet the same opposition in the early stages of both the FA Cup and the FA Vase next season.

The Extra Preliminary Round of the FA Cup, sponsored by E.On, has pitted Dawlish against Toolstation Western League rivals Elmore at Sandy Lane.

Buckland - in the FA Cup for the first time - will take on Wessex League Premier Division club Hamworthy United at Homers Heath.

Buckland will also face Hamworthy, again at home, in the Second Qualifying Round of the Vase — if the Poole-based side gets past Saltash United in the First Qualifier.

And in the First Round Proper of the Vase Dawlish, under new manager Jeff Evans, will entertain either Elmore or Liskeard Athletic.

Dawlish's FA Cup programme could eventually give them a First Qualifying Round tie away to ambitious Cornish club Truro City.

Truro's impressive rise in recent seasons has seen them reach the BGB Southern League Premier Division.

The full local draws are:

FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round (August 15) — Dawlish Town v Elmore, Buckland Athletic v Hamworthy United; Preliminary Round (August 29) — Bridport or Keynsham v Dawlish or Elmore, Buckland or Hamworthy v Frome Town; First Qualifying Round (September 12) — Truro City v Bridport/Keynsham/Dawlish or Elmore, Launceston, Clevedon or Bridgwater v Buckland/Hamworthy or Frome.

FA Carlsberg Vase Second Round Qualifying (September 19) — Buckland v Hamworthy or Saltash; First Round Proper (October 3) — Dawlish v Elmore or Liskeard, Bodmin/Portishead or Shaftesbury v Buckland/Hamworthy or Saltash.
