AN appeal is being made for volunteers to help launch a new sensory learning facility for babies and toddlers in Torbay.

The service will be run from a homeless project for young families in the Bay and will also be available to the wider local community.

The sensory area will be based in the communal lounge at Stone Court in Newton Road.

The project is run by Independent Futures, part of Devon and Cornwall Housing group.

It will provide a stimulating and learning environment for children at the project and those in the wider community and will be open at flexible times to meet demand.

Now organisers are appealing for decorators, carpenters and artists to create the sensory area and for qualified play volunteers and nursery assistants to help the i-Futures team run it, so the new service is up-and-running in the autumn.

Anyone who can volunteer a few hours of their time can contact Sarah Bugler, an activities co-ordinator at Stone Court, on 07980 734622 or email sarah.bugler@dchgroup.com
