New album incentive from Nicky
Nicky said: "My brand new website is now up and running with all the latest gigs and news on how to pre-order my new album entitled Matches and Dispatches, and also receive a signed copy a month before the release date.
"The website address is http://www.nickyswann.com
"The album was recorded at the Sawmills Studio in Cornwall where I was lucky enough to work with some great musicians, including double bassist Rick Foot, plus cellist Bethany Porter and the pedal steel/dobro player Alan Cook. The plan is to release the album in March but if anyone would like to order a copy now, I will make sure they receive a signed copy in February.
"And here's a special message to all the gentlemen out there. Why not earn some brownie points? A copy of Matches and Dispatches for the lady in your life will make a great Valentine's gift."
Meanwhile, Nicky Swann's next scheduled engagement is on Friday, February 5 at the Dartmouth Inn in Newton Abbot. That will be followed by an appearance at The Windjammer in Dartmouth on Thursday, February 11, plus the Anchor Inn, Cockwood, near Exeter, on Thursday, February 18.

TEIGNMOUTH SESSIONS SUCCESS
IN THE LoweDown column on December 10 I included a piece about that night's scheduled rock 'n' blues session at the Carlton Theatre in Teignmouth.
Following that article, just before the Christmas break, I heard from the event's organiser John Perkins, who told me how the evening had proved to be possibly the biggest and best to date.
John added: "The Teignmouth Sessions have been formed to provide a platform for local musicians, both young and old, to showcase their talents and also to jam together and enjoy good blues and rock.
"On December 10, local musicians played to a packed house, and all those attending enjoyed a free and tremendous evening of live rock and blues. There was some excellent young talent on view including a very impressive 14-year-old called Luke Friend, who is an outstanding vocalist with a wonderful future.
"Also in action on the night were Broken English, an excellent young rock band who have recently formed, plus Lee, who performed an amazing solo number on guitar.
"In addition, several of South Devon's more established bands and performers took centre stage, including Marco and Deanus, a fine acoustic duo who are part of the up-and-coming outfit Giraffodils, plus the locally well-known Temporary Minds, and members from the bands Eat the Rich and The Covers Brothers.
"There was also a good-quality acoustic guitar duo called Eddie and Chris, as well as some more familiar names from the local scene like Paul Taylor, Geoff Martin, Storming Norman, Tommy Cox and Phil Stone, to name just a few.
"Needless to say we are delighted the Teignmouth Sessions are now being supported so well."
John added: "Special thanks must go to the Carlton Theatre. The theatre is the perfect venue for an event that encourages local people to come and play music to a live audience, and for everyone to have a great evening. On December 10 there was a good variety of blues and rock music, both electric and acoustic. Indeed it was a very busy night but things worked out well so that everyone was able to play a set.
"The Teignmouth Sessions are non-profit making events with an objective to promote local performing talent for the enjoyment of all. The main genre is blues and rock music but in time there will be scope for various other artistic forms including poetry, story telling and the performing arts in general.
"The next Teignmouth Sessions takes place at The Carlton Theatre on Thursday, January 14, starting at 8.30pm. Admission is free. The bar will be open and everyone is welcome to attend.
"Anyone wishing to take part on January 14 can email me at theteignmouthsessions@googlemail. com or call me on 07919 354426."
